Was anybody else confused during the very first act of the Season 16 America’s Got Talent premiere? The Canine Stars’ act started off abruptly without an explanation. Viewers at home watched as four dogs sat at a judging table on stage and began to imitate the judges. Even an hour after the act aired, we still can’t wrap our minds around it.
Canine Stars Imitate the ‘America’s Got Talent’ Judges During Their Audition
During this audition, the dogs were each dressed as one of the America’s Got Talent judges. The dog representing Howie Mandel was wearing a pair of adorable round glasses. Voiceovers of each of the judges played in the background as if the dogs were actually speaking. One of the group members brought a dog out onto the stage to perform a fake routine for the fake dog judges.
It quickly became clear that the Canine Stars are a group that is definitely bringing something different to America’s Got Talent. It was hard to understand at first because we are so used to seeing dogs doing flips and tricks when they come onto the show. This time the dogs were like little furry comedians.
“This is genius,” Simon Cowell raved. “I mean seriously genius.”

Canine Stars travel around to promote adoption and show people how to have good relationships with their dogs. The sentiment of their act is awesome because more animals need loving homes all over the world. It’s hard not to fall in love with dogs. But jumping right into the act was a little weird.
“Look at me, I’m adorable,” Howie Mandel said. “This is, I gotta say for me, the best animal act I have ever seen on this show.”
Social Media Reacts to Bizarre AGT Act
Some fans of the show on Twitter had mixed opinions about the act. One Twitter user thinks the act is good but not enough to earn a Golden Buzzer. The act did not earn a Golden Buzzer. They had some stiff competition from Northwell Health Nurse Choir who did receive the Buzzer.
“Canine stars had same old tricks we always see but at least they tried to make it fun and different w the judges impressions/fake audition #AGTPremiere,” another person wrote.
Canine Stars will be moving on to the next round of the competition. We are so curious to see what storyline they decide to go with next.
